5 Book I want To See On Kindle

As a Kindle owner, I have enjoyed having the ability to buy books and have them delivered to my Kindle in less than 30 seconds. Unfortunately, Amazon has not yet released all paperback books to the Kindle, so I thought I’d create the top 5 books I want to see on Kindle. Here they are:

Small Business Start-Up Kit

Great book for any start-up owner. Not yet released to the Kindle, but I am hopeful.

Now Is Gone: A Primer on New Media for Executives and Entrepreneurs

Now is gone is a must read marketing book. Unfortunately, it’s not released to Kindle store yet.

Social Media Marketing: An Hour a Day

Must read social media book. Haven’t seen it in the Kindle store yet.

Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap... and Others Don't

Classic businss book for companies which want to improve their processes and accelerate their growth.

Hopes and Dreams:The Story of Barack Obama: Revised And Updated

This may sound corny. But I like Obama books. They are full of hope and inspirational messages. This guy can talk!

Your Take

What are your favorite books that are not on Kindle? I could’ve picked some classic books that I’d like to see on Kindle, but at the end of the day, I don’t read classic books too much these days. But which books would you like to see in the Kindle store?

The Amazon Kindle FAQ

The Amazon Kindle FAQ

So I was checking Amazon today, and I probably saw 30 or more books about iPhone 3G and how to use iPhone 3G to do all kinds of things. So I thought, what about Kindle? Why doesn’t Kindle get any love from publishers? Well, it seems there is a book on Kindle (though in the Kindle edition). The books is called “the Amazon Kindle FAQ.” Here are the topics covered:

  • Kindle Basics, From A to Z
  • Whispernet FAQs
  • All about the Experience with E-Ink
  • Traveling With Kindle
  • Kindle, battery, and energy consumption
  • How to handle Multiple Kindles
  • Where do I get content?
  • Kindle Shortcuts and hidden features

Now this is all not bad at all, but I wish it was for free. I mean Amazon should have one of these babies out for a cent or two.

Does Kindle Open Door To Garbage Books?

Is It Just Me or Is Everything Shit?

I don’t know about you, but I check the Kindle store every single day for the newest titles. What I have noticed is a surge in the number of independent books published with the Kindle platform. I am talking about the self-published ebooks that you could only find on ClickBank before the Kindle. As you know, ClickBank has simply some of the worst premium content available on the planet. More than 90% of titles available on Clickbank are pure garbage. Now the Kindle platform has enabled these publishers to bring their works to Amazon customers.

Does Amazon Kindle platform open the door to garbage books? Absolutely. There is no doubt in my mind that we will have more useless books available in the market. But are we worse of because of it? I don’t think so. The more options we readers have, the better we are off. And for every 90 trash books out there, there are 10 very valuable books that would have never made it to Amazon had it not been for the Kindle. Kindle is truly a platform for innovation (in publishing). Some use it to spread garbage, but if you search enough, you’ll find those rare gems that make it all worth it.

Did You Know….

So we have all heard all the complaints about Kindle books being nonreturnable. After all you are buying a digital book and not a paperbook. But in fact you can return content to Amazon. Here is the policy:

Any content you purchase for Kindle from the Amazon Kindle store is eligible for return and refund if we receive your request within 7 days of the date of purchase. Once a refund is issued, the item will be removed from Your Media Library and will no longer be readable on your Kindle. To request a refund and return, click the Customer Service button in the Contact Us box in the right-hand column of this page to reach us via phone or e-mail. Please make sure to include the title of the item you wish to return in your request.

Not many folks know this, but if you have paid $9.99 for a garbage Kindle book, you should consider returning it before it’s too late. Yet another policy that shows Amazon cares about its customers.

Amazon’s New Strategy To Make Kindle Store Relevant

If you haven’t been paying attention, Amazon seems to be juggling between multiple strategies to make the Kindle store more relevant. The Kindle store is great if you are a heavy Kindle user, but at the end of the day most people search for books on the normal Amazon store and not the Kindle store. Amazon seems to be introducing Kindle books sooner or at the same time (as they are doing with Brisingr) as paperback books to encourage people to pick them up from the Kindle store. I think releasing books earlier to the Kindle platform would be brilliant strategy to boost Kindle sales. After all, if you can skip the shipping process, and get books 2 weeks earlier than you would at bookstores, all of a sudden Kindle doesn’t look that expensive. We shall see if this strategy works out for Amazon but it’s certainly not that risky.

What are your thoughts on this strategy? Would you consider buying a Kindle if it meant you getting books 2-3 weeks earlier than most people?

Amazon Lowering The Kindle eBooks to Match Paperback Prices

A few days ago I was browsing through Amazon’s selection of books to figure out which books are the hottest sellers out there. To my surprise, I found a couple of books who were being sold for about $9 as paperback but $9.99 in the Kindle store. Now the problem with that is why would anyone want to buy the Kindle edition for more? I am actually interested to see if anyone of you guys would consider paying more for Kindle books, but to me that would be unreasonable.

Today I checked the same books, and it seems that Amazon is now matches the prices of both editions for these books. While still unreasonable, at least Amazon is paying attention. In my book, Amazon Kindle books should be prices at least 20-30% lower than their paperbook counterparts. Some say that all books should be in $0.99 - $4.99 range, but I can’t see that happening for $100 college books.

I am interested to hear your thoughts on this. Should Amazon charge the same for a paperback book and its Kindle version? Would you consider paying more for Kindle books?
